Workshop Summary:

Our Artistic Director and Founder, Jo Dyer, will come into your school and work with your children to transform any space of your choosing into an inspiring learning environment!

Jo specialises in artworks made entirely of paper and cardboard, reinforcing your 'save the environment' themes and teaching children about sustainability. She will work with your children to create 3D artworks which will brighten any display board/corner in your school (to a theme of your choosing).

Previous themes have included 'Under the Sea' (pictured); 'Rockets & Space' and 'Magical Books.

It is also possible to transform your main school corridor or entrance hall with an art installation made by the whole school. It's a wonderful, creative way to welcome visitors and parents, and the children love walking by their creations every day. This is a perfect project for Art Weeks, as a whole school workshop: expect two days with the artist (Monday and Friday). On Monday the theme is introduced to the whole school via your assembly, and then Jo will move between classes, teaching the children how to make artworks for the final installation. During the week, teachers work with the children to finish their creations and on Friday Jo returns to finish off the artworks with the children and make the installation (with the help of some pupil art leaders!). The whole school and parents can be invited to visit the finished art installation at the end of the day, and the installation can remain in place for the duration of a term or longer.

Once commissioned, we work with your school to create bespoke workshops to a theme of your choosing. Please visit website to see the very many projects we have created over the years.

Testimonials:

"Our school had a great experience with Animate Arts and produced a work that the students were fully engaged in that is currently on display in our foyer. The whole experience from start to finish was well organised and Jo and Nova were very friendly and delivered a fun workshop for all."
—Art Lead, The City Academy Hackney, Frame of Mind project

"It's just surpassed my expectations really, in terms of thinking outside the box especially. It's definitely made me think of the bigger picture when I'm coming to teach art again … who knew cardboard could be such a wonderful material?"

—Justine Swindells, Class Teacher, St Alphege Infant School, Whitstable

”It looks amazing - Jo enthused the children and staff and created a beautiful rainbow. I would highly recommend Animate Arts - the work created really reflected what we as a school wanted.”
