Tented village or residential centre with bespoke outdoor activity programmes
.
At Cumulus Outdoors we pride ourselves on designing bespoke outdoor activity programmes to fit each individual school, depending on duration and nature of the trip. Each programme contains a unique set of adventure activities that can include Coasteering , Mackerel Fishing, Dorset Waterpark and Bushcraft to name just a few. Our highly qualified and knowledgeable instructors will engage all students at every level throughout our school residential trips to ensure an action packed and educational trip to remember.

There are two sleeping options for our school residential trips, allowing you to pick the accommodation type that is best suited to the needs of your group. Our tented villages are well suited to school and youth groups looking for an authentic outdoor experience, whereas our residential centre is a great option if you would prefer the comfort of ensuite dormitory accommodation alongside classroom and field study facilities.

‘A great team and excellent instructors in a superb location’ Dorset Tourism Awards 2019 Cumulus Outdoors Gold Award

Additional Information:

Our Tented Villages provide a unique setting in which students and teachers alike can relax in a camp exclusive to your group. We offer 24/7 on site pastoral care from our expert team of camp staff. Our dedicated field chef cooks hearty meals to refuel after a busy day and can cater to your every need and dietary requirement.

For example, our Cumulus camp is situated in an unbeatable location close to the Dorset coast. Set in a large field surrounded by trees, it’s an excellent space for children to spend time with their peers. The camp has a homely feel and is a great place to return after the days adventures. Spacious stand-up tents are set around our huge central Nordic Tipi which contains a central campfire. Here the group can spend time together in the evenings, playing campfire games and reminisce on the days activities.

Creature comforts continue for teachers with a dedicated area within camp, containing a brew station for that well-earned cuppa, access to phone charging and a welcome box.

The Cumulus Outdoors Residential Centre is located in the lovely town of Swanage, just a 15 minute walk to the beach. It accommodates up to 130 students/teachers in hard-top accommodation across three dormitories and boasts designated teacher facilities. Each dormitory has its own dedicated common room giving ample space for indoor activities and evening entertainment.

The Cumulus catering team provide a varied menu and will take into account all individual dietary needs keeping you fuelled throughout your stay. Classroom and field study facilities also enable more educational elements to be included in our school residential trips. The centre is set in six acres of grounds providing plenty of space for on-site outdoor activities.

Testimonials & Accreditation Awards:

“This has been our best ever residential, all staff student interaction is fantastic and Jack is a natural. All camp staff have been exceptional and the food has been delicious all week, beautifully cooked and served. Thank you, it has been an absolute pleasure.”

"We have used Cumulus to run our School Summer Camp for the last 3 years.
They have always provided an excellent service allowing us to tailor the event to our requirements.
The pricing is good value and the service from the team is very good. The activities are excellent as are the instructors who manage to run sessions which are very safe but also a lot of fun.
We will be back next year!"

"We have used Cumulus for the last 4 years for a year 5 school residential. Communication and directions are always fantastic before hand and staff running the activities are always experienced, friendly and knowledgeable. They are great with the kids - fun, but firm if needed and caring for those who need a bit more persuasion to push themselves out of their comfort zone. The children we have taken have always had a great time and as a member of staff on a school trip I have always had a great day out with Cumulus staff".
