Workshop Summary:
This fun and magical workshop explores the cyanotype process discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1842. The group is encouraged to collaborate with nature by creating beautiful and intriguing blueprints using a variety of supplied and/or found objects and their individual creativity. A cyanotype is a photogram that produces a cyan-blue print and doesn't need a darkroom to develop the image just tap water.
All workshops are engaging and safe for all ages 8 and over. This workshop uses precoated light-sensitive paper/fabric which reduces practically all risks associated with this already very safe process. This also ensures students get the most out of the experience whilst ensuring the efficient delivery of each workshop.
But we live in the UK so what if the sun is hiding?
No problem, we've got that covered. To ensure a great experience all year round whatever the weather we have a bespoke portable UV lightbox that can develop up to 35 A4 size prints in one 15 minute exposure.
Is it safe? Yes, sun printing is safe, makes a great classroom activity, and is one of the safest of all the chemical photographic processes!
