Workshop Summary:

We bring history to life, using virtual reality to discover the ancient world and providing hands-on practical activities where children can handle artefacts and learn ancient skills. Our workshops are truly immersive.

  • Use our Virtual Reality headsets to explore the sites of ancient Egypt including the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple, The tomb of Rameses VI and more.

  • Use Augmented Reality to look at 3D models of Nefertiti and a Sarcophagus.

  • Learn about the chronology and the impact of geography on ancient Egypt.

  • Try traditional methods of writing hieroglyphs, using reed pens and authentically made inks.

  • Take part in an artefact handling session, try using the Egyptian art canon of proportion to draw a pharaoh, build a stepped pyramid and handle a variety of replica artefacts.

  • Play some traditional Egyptian games and learn about the importance of games to Egyptian adults and children alike.

  • Participate in the mummification rituals, mummify your friend and explore what was inside the embalmer’s toolkit.
