Workshop Summary:

‘What is my impact now and what would I like it to be?’
‘How can I use my breath, voice and body to influence others with confidence?’
‘How can I convey my ideas with clarity, credibility and conviction?

In this workshop, led by professional actors and education facilitators, we consider these fundamental questions by exploring the key elements of confident expression: Breath, Body, Voice and Language. We focus on cultivating confidence, initiative and resilience whilst developing life-long skills of leadership and collaboration. This workshop is energetic and fast-paced, packed with encouragement and plenty of challenges to help students to shed their inhibitions and practise taking risks. We tackle the fear of ‘failure’ and encourage feedback and reflection throughout the workshop, inviting students to find opportunities for growth in its place.

Students will leave with:

– Boosted confidence, fewer inhibitions when speaking in public and a greater motivation to take risks and participate
– An improved ability to think on their feet, practising flexibility and adaptability under pressure
– A unique ‘power pose’ that works for them – to energise, empower and promote self-esteem
– Clear guidelines for using language appropriately in public speaking, as well as recognisable signposts for understanding audience and situational context
– A set of useful strategies for dealing with performance anxiety
– A toolkit of techniques and exercises relating to breath, body, vocal support and articulation
– A greater awareness of body language in relation to how we feel as well as how we are perceived by others
– A clearer understanding of the impact of different methods of explicit and implicit communication
– An electronic workshop pack with a detailed warm up and a summary of specific exercises and techniques from the session

Testimonials:

“We enjoyed the Finding Your Voice workshop so much that we will certainly book more in the future! It was very helpful to have a pre-course questionnaire to identify exactly what the objectives of the day were. The workshop was tailored to the size of our groups and to what we were looking to get out of the day. The objective of all activities was explained to the students to keep them focused and the activities were fun, age-appropriate and helped to demonstrate techniques. The students very much enjoyed the workshop and were able to put their newly learnt skills to practice at our Open Day recently.”
